CYPRESS WEIR 1 (GOLD4A) RELOCATION DESIGN
Client: South Florida Water Management District | Collier County
In a coordinated effort between the South Florida Water Management District and Collier County, the Gold 4A needed to be removed and a new structure located south of the existing one. R.J. Behar was contracted to design the new structure, which included three new slide/weir gates, a three-cell box culvert to be used as a bridge, new stilling wells, a 10' x 10' control room, communications, and miscellaneous appurtenances. The bridge will be 24' wide. The scope included hydraulic analyses using the HEC-RAS model and site design, including grading and drainage. An auto-turn model was used to model the 55-ton crane in use by the district, the new riprap design, and electrical, structural, and mechanical design. R.J. Behar also prepared specifications and cost estimates.
