SR-820/PINES BOULEVARD & I-75/SR-93 INTERCHANGE

This was a Local Agency Program (LAP) federally funded construction project between the City of Pembroke Pines and the Florida Department of Transportation, District 4, consisting of urbanized improvements to the I-75/SR-93 and Pines Boulevard/SR-820 Interchange. The project included modifying the existing interstate overpass entrance and exit ramps from a rural configuration to an urban configuration, as well as widening, signalization, landscaping, and access management improvements along Pines Boulevard.
R.J. Behar provided construction engineering inspection and contract management services during construction, including scheduling and attending meetings, reviewing requests for information and requests for clarification, serving as a liaison between the contractor and the County, reviewing shop drawings, monitoring schedules and dates, verifying materials incorporated into the work, verifying sampling, preparing daily inspection reports, monitoring compliance with maintenance of traffic plans, reviewing and analyzing change orders and pay requests, and monitoring and observing the construction activities and procedures and project closeout. A “No Excuse Bonus” of $250,000.00 and an “Incentive/Decentive” contracting method were utilized as a means of promoting an earlier contract time completion. R.J.
